The interviews suggest that this form of chamber music teaching involved more than the students were used to. The ensembles worked with stylistic, interpretative and technical aspects, as we would expect. In addition, they also worked with communicative, social and professional elements. Several teachers emphasized that one of the most important things they wanted to show the students was how professional ensembles rehearse together and how they communicate and develop musically. Teachers also used a wide range of teaching strategies, such as interaction, demonstration/imitation, explanation, group discussion and experimentation. Students and teachers found playing together and discussing and experimenting together to be the key benefits.
