Jostein Gundersen plays the recorder and is associate professor in music at the University of Bergen, Department of Music. He also teaches historical improvisation at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater «Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy» in Leipzig. He is founder and artistic director of the ensemble Currentes.
